The siding is actually aluminum. We painted it 10 years ago..and it’s held up wonderfully.
We drove a nail into it. ;) Our plans were to replace with vinyl at some point so went ahead and did that. Otherwise I probably wouldn’t have. You could try the 3m strips but I’m not sure how they hold up to weather and humidity.
