Thank you Nessie. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your husband. It’s crazy that particular cancer is not funded better. It is great that you have become an advocate for it however.

Oh, I love the Old Violet. I have a can here but have yet to paint anything with that color yet. :) I will have to take a look at your blog to see your chair!

Hi there Nancy, I have just read your blog post on breast density, and as you say, its not something I knew about, and I was a gynaecological nurse for five years. Your whole story strikes a note with me, as 18 months ago I lost my beloved husband Peter to pancreatic cancer. A different cancer, but also one that is not widely known about, not publicised enough and is grossly underfunded. I have, like you, become involved in a charity called Pancreatic Cancer Action UK, to try and get knowledge out there and get doctors better trained to spot the early signs. Survival is 3% at 5 years and its the 5th biggest killer of all cancers, yet gets only 1% of the research budget in the UK. I love your blog and having re-pinned your painted upholstered chair, its the one pin that gets re-pinned the most. I have just painted a a deep buttoned leather office chair with Annie Sloan Old Violet and its just brilliant. Its on my blog, which is on http://www.blogger.com as Paintitandsee, but I am very new at blogging, so not sure how the ‘proper’ address should be. I should probably come to you for some tuition! I really admire what you have done, re breast cancer detection, and have now signed up for email alerts too. Best wishes Nessie

What a touching story and congrats on 3 years!! Cancer is a horrible disease and I wish there was a cure too. We lost my nephew this year to Testicular cancer, it is a horrible disease and devastates too any families every year.
