Christmas Past Revisited
Join me as I revisit Christmas past and all the changes we’ve seen through the years!
I hope you are winding down this weekend and relaxing and taking in all that there is to enjoy.
I know it is a hustle-bustle time but hopefully all the stockings are hung, presents are wrapped and things that need to be done, are done. Let’s grab a cup of coffee or tea and take a walk down memory lane here on Artsy Chicks Rule. Lots has changed around here over the years I’ve had this blog.
Not only has my home changed with the remodels, etc, but my decor has changed quite a bit as well.
OH, also, I shared a walk-thru (live walk-thru) of our home over on Instagram on Friday in my stories. Those only last 24 hours over there but if you missed it, you can still see it as I added a tab and put the entire walk-thru there. Just click the one that says “Home Tour” in my Instagram profile, here.
If you missed our “Nighttime Christmas Tour” or any of our other holiday home tours this season, you can find them, here.
Let’s start back at the beginning of the blog…
Our little corner how it looked then. Things have changed quite a bit, paint color, furnishings, etc.
I’m missing the colored lights. I am thinking I may have to do a tree with colored lights next year!
We always did colored lights. Mainly because the kids were growing up and they loved them. (and so did we!) But as they got older and styles changed, I went more towards white. We also only ever had one tree. Then we added another and had one color, one white. Now they are all white. I might have to change that! ;)
This was a fun and simple project. I used old thrift store ornaments to make this colorful wreath.
Told ya I like to hang Santa hats off things. ;)
And now…
The foyer as it was for several years.
Gosh, it’s so weird to look at these photos now. Things look so different!
And now…
It’s amazing what a few changes like flooring and paint can make.
And now…
Looking into the old “dining room”.
I so enjoy that room being the morning room instead of the dining room.
A few years later…
And now…
And what was the “study” is now the dining room… (again, as you can see, we have come full circle ;) )
This one goes way back, before blogging. Much different than my decor now, huh?
Same room (can you believe it?) with my Aubusson Blue dresser before I made over the top…again.
I got this little tree to hold all the “sentimental” ornaments. I think we will be putting this one up somewhere next year.
I miss seeing those ornaments up.
I think you may be seeing at least two more trees up around here next year! One in our master bedroom and one on our screened porch.
I think our bedroom tree will have these ornaments.
And now…
Our laundry.
Too bad I don’t have earlier photos because this one was after one of the several makeovers I gave it….before the big one!
And now…
Our front porch…
I hope you enjoyed revisiting these holiday rooms with me.
Many blessings and lots of love to all of you.
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas, friends!
xoxo

I loved all the photos. I enjoy the white. My color scheme is white green and pink….usually. We stopped putting up big trees a couple of years ago, so I’ve gone haywire with tiny trees, up to two feet. I love them a bit too much, hah. I just bought my ninth tree, 50 cents at a thrift shop, so here I go again. We once had a holiday party, the twelve trees of Christmas, all sizes and styles. It looks like I’m almost there, only a tiny version. Merry Christmas to you all.
White, green and pink sounds so pretty and like something I would love. And I absolutely love the 12 trees of Christmas idea! So fun. I bet your tiny trees are just beautiful. I love that idea too. I might have to steal your idea and do some tiny trees too! Merry Christmas, Eileen! xoxo
Everything is beautiful! I saw on IG where you were going to the parade and the pigs! How funny! Hope you saw the Fat man and he brings you everything you wish for! Merry Christmas!🎄
Thank you so much, Cecilia! Yes, the pigs were so funny!! Merry Merry Christmas to you!! xoxo
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU NANCY!!! Wish you all the best in 2020!!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you too, Lesley!! xoxo
Your home is so cozy, creative and beautiful! I love your postings all year long!
Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and all the best for 2020!
Thank you, Penny! I am so happy to hear that! I hope you have a Merry Christmas! xoxo
Nancy, you have made your home so beautiful and wonderfully cozy! I love it all! But I have to admit, my favorite tree of all is the one in your family room…. the white one with the aqua bulbs. And I remember the twinkling lights you had on it the first year you put it up. Is that the one you flocked that year? It is simply gorgeous. Merry Christmas! xo, K
Thank you, Karen! No, that is not the flocked one I did. I sure do miss having the twinkling lights though!! I need to use those again next year. I may even do one of the trees with colored lights. That would be fun for a change! I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas!! xoxo
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! To you and your family!!!! I love it all. Very cozy and inviting. You are very creative in turning thrift store stuff into beauties.
I know this is a long shot but….. any memory of where you got or what to call that off white rug with the fringed edge. It’s in the picture with the blue dresser with the dark top. I LOVE IT!!!!
I need it. I don’t even know how search for it……what to call it???? I know it is a long shot but never hurts to ask!!!!
Here’s looking forward to a GREAT New Year!!! 2020!!! WOW!!! can’t believe it!!!! XXOO
Thank you so much, Addie! Not a long shot at all! Here is the rug that I used to have in that room. https://www.rugsusa.com/rugsusa/rugs/rugs-usa-chunky-loop/Off-White/200NCCL01-P.html (not affiliated)

Ohhh!!! thank you sooooo very much. Now I have a problem!!! I like the pale green one too!!!! ……Decisions decisions!!!! AND they are on sale now!!!! Happy 2020 to you and yours!!!!…(I love tying 2020…..it just flows!)
You are very welcome! Oh haha!! Yes, that is a great sale! I bought a new rug for my office AND new closet on that sale. :)
I’m a “senior” Christmas dec fanatic…and one of your avid fans! Still love the traditional style best…but LOVE to see your ideas for a white Christmas…you have an amazing eye for style…and I’ve used so many ideas from your posts this past year. My mornings always start with “Nancy & a cup of coffee.” Wishing you and yours a blessed Christmas & a peaceful new year.
Thank you so much, Pat! You have made my day, for sure!! I am so happy to hear that you enjoy the posts/projects and have been able to use some of the ideas too. That is just so great and what I hope for when I share things here. Wishing you a blessed Christmas as well, and one filled with peace, love, and joy! xoxo
Hi Nancy,
I have been following your posts for a long time now. Very inspiring and you always do beautiful work. I love to see all your creations.
Merry Christmas,
Michele
Hi Michele, I’m so happy you are here! Thank you for following along with me and I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! xoxo
Dear Nancy,
I love breezing thru your wonderful life of creativity and decor! I’m SO glad to see that I’m not the only one who enjoys going beyond the norm of Christmas decorating! A family member once visited us from out of town and when he walked in said, “OMG, it looks like Santa was here and vomited Christmas all over your house!!! My only reply was, “Thank you! Better this way than the other!” I hope you continue on doing so always! Much admiration, Dawn
Hi Dawn! Thank you so much! I am so happy to hear that. And yes, your home sounds absolutely perfect to me!!! :) Happy New Year to you! xoxo
Thanks Nancy,
we love the ambience the soft flights give.
I hope you don’t mind if I pick your brain later on after the holidays, as I would like to do a kind of mosaic on an old highboy with some old decorative plates, after I crack them up and put together in pieces. Look forward to it and happy new year!
Dawn
