Our Simple Christmas Home 2021
Hello beautiful friends!
Christmas is days away and we are probably all bustling to get all the things done. But…it’s almost time to settle down and just relax and enjoy the season.
Today I thought I would share our “simple Christmas home” with you.
Simple, because it’s been a year, right? And a very challenging last few months around here so I didn’t really feel like decorating like I normally do.
I felt like I really needed to keep it simple…and so I did!
I do miss having my 3-4 trees up but one will definitely do. One was all I ever used to have before I began my blog anyway.
I literally did all of this decorating in one evening. Then once my son was home from school, we put the ornaments on the tree a few days later.
And done! Oh so simple and relaxed. It feels like “less is more” in more ways than one. :)
I hope you enjoy a peek inside our home this holiday season.
Welcome to our home…
Just a few things outside.
Step on inside to the foyer…
This sweet nativity greets you at the door to remind you what the real reason for the season is.
And it’s a thrifty find from a past year that I painted white.
My pretty blue dresser all ready for the holidays…
And the free printable/project I shared recently…
The morning room got just a few touches…
And so did the coffee bar…
In the kitchen, a simple swag and noel sign…
Wreath on the mirror, a white, wood Christmas tree, and pretty cards we’ve received this year.
And Santa watching over everything, haha, I just love him…
This was another recent Nativity I picked up at the thrift store and painted white.
And this Santa on the other side of the room watching here…
Out on the screened porch, I added just a few things…
In the living room…
Simple, small touches.
We got a new rug, you can find it here. I really wanted to bring a little bit of color into this room.
There is the Samsung Frame TV I talked about recently. It’s very cool, we love it!
I painted the fireplace (it was sort of yellowish before…I hadn’t painted it since I changed the paint color from yellow to blue in here) and it looks SO much better.
AND we made a new mantel!! I will be sharing all the details on that after the new year.
And our simple tree. I didn’t use half as many ornaments (or “snow”) as I usually do.
I also didn’t try to do a “theme” like usual. (gold and blue only, white only, red, etc) We just put whatever we wanted on it!
It’s not perfect or magazine-worthy at all but it’s ours and was decorated with love…and not with photos in mind.
Actually, I hadn’t even planned on sharing photos this year because I didn’t do much.
And to close out my little tour, you know I had to share a shot of my sweet boy, Ryder. He always obliges!
I hope you enjoyed a little stroll through our home today.
And it may seem like I did a lot but trust me when I say, I have many bins FULL of things I usually put out and didn’t.
Simple feels SO good this year though.
How about you? Are you keeping it simple this year too?
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday!!
Nancy, Merriest Christmas to you and your family!! I love your home, so cheerful and festive. I completely forgot to do any decorating. Give Ryder some loving for me.
Will do! :) Merry Christmas, Christina! xo
I’m feeling you all the way here in Australia, if it wasn’t for having 4yr old twins , I’d give it a miss altogether. Your keeping it simple is still stunning. I love Ryder’s look of ‘oh mum not another picture of me’.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Australia to you and your family.
Thank you, Dione! And yes, haha, he definitely had that look! Merry Christmas to you! xoxo
I think your decorations look so beautiful! I always do simple Christmas decorating in my home because I don’t have children and our family always gathered at my brother and sister-in-law’s home in northern VA each year. I have a special ceramic Christmas tree (circa 1960s) that was my grandmother’s who gave it to my Mom and then my Mom gave to me. Between that tree and putting lights on the fake Ficus tree, those are my two Christmas trees lol! My 57-year-old brother was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s five years ago and is now in memory care, so we aren’t all gathering at their home this year. Wishing you and your family a merry and blessed Christmas.
Thank you for sharing! It’s refreshing to see a home that is decorated simply, yet beautifully, with meaningful ornaments and decorations that aren’t just for show. I love the nativities, and the gold deer display makes me think of the mother eating and the baby wandering away to play while she is occupied! I have been collecting the different sets of brass deer from Target for a few years now! I actually have two of the sets like the baby deer that are more stylized, plus the more detailed ones from last year and this year. I also kept it fairly simple this year, but wanted it to feel festive for my college daughter who just returned from three months in Spain. Merry Christmas to you and your family!🎄❤️
Oh, I need to go check them out! I didn’t realize there were more…I need them!! lol
And yay, how great to have your daughter home, I know you are so happy…and what an amazing experience for her as well!! Merry Christmas, Vicki! xoxo
Thank you so much, Debby! I’m so sorry about your brother. That has to be tough. So young!
Merry Christmas to you! xoxo
Yes, less is more this time of year. Your simple is beautiful. I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and thank you for all you do for the creative community.
Thank you, Cheryl! Merry Christmas to you! xoxo
beautiful & meaningful decorating – your home is lovely!
Thank you, CC! :) xo
I think your home looks beautiful and festive. More is nice but not necessarily better. Enjoy the extra time you have with family and friends that’s not being spent decorating. Merry Christmas!
Thank you, Jennifer! Merry Christmas to you! xo
Thanks for the tour, everything looks great especially your tree, love the cotton batting as garland. Have a wonderful holiday!
Thank you, Celia!! Happy Holidays to you! xo
I think your home is lovely and cozy. You put up all what you wanted and it looks like a family lives there.😍 Merry Christmas to you and your family. Let’s all have a Healthy and Happy New Year.🥳
Yes, exactly!! Thank you, Lorri! Merry Christmas to you! And YES to that!! :) xoxo
Thank you for sharing your cozy and lovely home. Your tree is my favorite piece. Reminds me of the trees, my daughters and I decorated when they were young. Enjoy your holidays with family,
Aw, I love that. Thank you, Pamela! Happy holidays to you. xoxo
Lovely! And Ryder always matches the decor!
Yes!! Thank you, Martha!! :) xo
Thank you for reinforcing the simple and a reminder it’s not about the decorations. My situation was similar and I felt so much pressure and my own stress to decorate. My husband reminded me of the simple Marie Kondo statement and said “if it doesn’t bring you joy, then don’t put it up”. Wise man ♥️
I also did a couple little sprints to put things up and left lots of decorations in the basement.
I’m really starting to love and appreciate the simpler decorating—I see the detail more than a sea of Christmas.
Merry Christmas, Nancy!
I did keep it simple too! I painted my fireplace also, and haven’t put a mantle up, so I’ll be interested in seeing what you do. Enjoy you family during this holiday season!
Yay for simple! Oh that’s great!! Yes, we will be sharing it in January!! Happy holidays!! xoxo
Yes, so wise!! Love that!
And you and me both, Michelle! Merry Christmas!! xoxo
The only Christmas I have up are the cards that have come. My husband and I are both recovering from covid so we just haven’t had the oomph to decorate. But we’re still thankful for our Savior and that is what really makes Christmas.
Oh goodness! Yes, Covid is tough! Glad you are both recovering. Hugs!!! Merry Christmas!! xo
So nice for Christmas. Love the white creche.
Thank you, Barbara! Merry Christmas!
A simple Christmas like most of us have. I think one large tree is enough to decorate. Smaller trees can fill in. Love the simplicity and coordinated color.
Thank you, Linda! Merry Christmas! xo
Just wanted to wish you and your family Merry Christmas. I have certainly enjoyed your blogging this year. It does not go unnoticed!!! Your talent with paint is perfection and I hope to tackle some projects this coming year. I love the simple look. I have never decorated Christmas with just Christmas ball ornaments but I chose that look this year and love it. Simple but colorful. I love the simplicity in Christmas; our main objective should be Christ our Lord and Savior. Thanks again for all your hard work into blogging and can’t wait to see what you have for us in the coming 2022!!! Merry Christmas
I am so happy to hear that, Jean! Thank you!!!
And yes, exactly. Keeping the focus on Him! Merry, Merry Christmas to you! xoxo
What a beautiful home! Thank you so much for sharing it with us! Especially liked seeing what you did with the nativity scenes. God bless you and your family.
Thank you so much, Nancy! Wishing you a blessed Christmas!! xo
Everything looks great. Lots of sweet touches. I love your tree…..I don’t like themed trees.
Sometimes a bit easier is the way to go. I am doing it myself this year. All of your signs are so cute and I like the front porch too. Ryder is a sweetie…always!!!
May you and yours have the very Best and Holiness Christmas AND a Healthy, Happy 2022!!!!
YES!!!! Let’s NOT forget the reason for the Season!!!!
Thank you, Addie! And yes, for sure!!! Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!!! xoxo
